Completed as part of my initial coursework in Urban Planning at Hunter College in New York City, this project required the creation of a site design and financing plan for a conceptual affordable housing development.
The above is a representation of the chosen lot's layout and dimensions.
I conducted a survey of the land uses, street designs, and building typologies surrounding the proposed development site to better inform the final site design.
In addition, I noted the lot's R6B zoning requirements when creating the site design and determining usable floor area.
This is my basic SketchUp model of the proposed development, along with an outline of the proposed dwelling units, floor areas, and building specifications.
A rear view that shows the development's adherence to parking requirements contained within the R6B district, assuming no variance.
Projected rental income based on affordable vs. market-rate units provided within the development.
Calculation of expenses and subtracted from net operating income, resulting in an estimated total annual amount available for debt service.
