The Genessee Transportation Council hired Alta Planning + Design to develop a bicycle and pedestrian master plan for the Town of Perinton. Located just outside of Rochester, NY, the Town lies along the Erie Canal corridor and surrounds the historic Village of Fairport. As the staff planner working on this project, my responsibilities included writing and formatting the plan document, producing mapping and visualizations, examining relevant data, coordinating with the subconsultant, and running several GIS analyses. A selection of my work products from this plan are presented below.
The above contains selected excerpts of the draft plan that I produced for this project.
I created this recommendations map that overlays crash data, transit ridership, parks, trails, and points of interest to help visualize priority areas for active transportation improvements.
This map is the result of a Level of Traffic Stress (LTS) analysis I ran in GIS. The LTS model used various roadway attributes to attribute scores to roadways in Perinton that help determine how comfortable they are for bicycle travel.
I ran this Pedestrian Level of Service (PLOS) model in GIS and illustrated the results in the above map. The resulting roadway scores reflect how well-served pedestrians are served by their infrastructure throughout the Town, taking into account the presence of sidewalks, posted traffic speeds, and number of vehicle lanes.
