"Anchorage Talks Transit" was a transit visioning project that focused on intensive public engagement to determine the future of Anchorage's transit network. I acted as a project manager for the Municipality of Anchorage, working alongside the Portland-based transit consultants Jarrett Walker + Associates.
Experiencing declining ridership amidst an extremely tight budget, Anchorage recognized that its transit network needs to evolve to keep pace with changing conditions. Anchorage Talks Transit sought productive community and stakeholder feedback on key transit choices that would inform a redesign of the existing system.
I planned, organized, and coordinated the majority of the public and stakeholder engagement events throughout 2016, ultimately reaching about 1,000 residents and stakeholders in online and in-person formats. I gave presentations and led discussions in a variety of venues, from large audiences to one-on-one conversations.
The implementation phase is continuing into 2017.
I developed the above timeline to highlight key project milestones.
I organized the project's kickoff at the Anchorage Museum, which attracted over 100 attendees.
I also organized a stakeholder workshop that was attended by 38 stakeholder representatives.
I created infographics and other materials to summarize project results at various stages, including the above summary of the second phase of outreach in November and December of 2016.
